This page explains when money paid to LegalHelpzyn is returned, and when it is not. It applies to professional fees paid through this website, the app, or directly to the firm.
Two different kinds of money
Almost every matter involves two separate amounts, and they are treated differently:
- Our professional fee — what the firm charges for its own work.
- Statutory and third-party costs — government filing fees, court fees, stamp duty, registry charges, and similar. These are paid onward to a department or authority, not retained by the firm.
Before work begins
If you have paid and we have not yet started, the professional fee is refunded in full. You can withdraw an order yourself from My orders in the client portal or the app for as long as no payment has been received against it; after that, ask us and we will tell you where it stands.
After work begins
Once work has started, the professional fee is refundable in proportion to what remains undone. We will tell you what has been completed, what that part of the fee was, and what is being returned. Where a matter is billed in stages, a stage that has not opened has not been charged for and nothing is owed on it.
What cannot be refunded
- Statutory fees already paid. Once a filing fee or court fee has reached a department, the firm cannot recover it and neither can you. We will show you the receipt.
- Work already delivered. An opinion given, a notice drafted and sent, or an application filed has been supplied.
- A consultation that has taken place. Where a consultation fee was charged and the conversation happened, the fee has been earned. If the fee was to be adjusted against a larger engagement, that adjustment still stands.
An outcome is not a refund ground
We are engaged to act with skill and diligence, not to guarantee a result. A decision going against you is not, by itself, a reason for a refund. Where you believe the firm has not done what it undertook to do, say so — that is a different conversation and we would rather have it.
How to ask, and how long it takes
Write to [FIRM EMAIL] or call [FIRM PHONE], quoting your matter reference. We will reply within [3] working days with what we propose to refund and why.
An approved refund is returned by the same route it arrived — a card or UPI payment goes back to the same card or account. Bank and gateway timelines are outside our control; allow [7 to 10] working days after we confirm it.
If you disagree
Write to [SENIOR CONTACT NAME AND EMAIL]. Nothing on this page limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or any other law.
